GETTING STARTED

​LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
  • You must be at least 17 (16 if you are receiving disability benefit).

  • You need to have a provisional driving licence. This can be applied for 3 months before your 17th birthday.
    Ask for forms D1 and D750 at the Post Office or
    Apply Online

THE TEST

Part 1

This consists of 2 elements, a multiple choice segment and a hazard perception test.

You can study for these whilst you are taking practical lessons but the sooner you start the better.

 

You must pass this before you are able to take the practical exam.

Part 2

The test lasts for approximately 35-40 minutes and is designed to assess your practical ability to drive.

 

Once you have passed you can apply for your full UK licence.

PASS PLUS

Once you have passed your test it is a great idea to further enhance your driving skills.  The course is recommended by the Driving Standards Agency and will help you to become a more confident driver. It may also save you money on your car insurance!​

Pass Plus comprises of 6 elements:
 

  • Town driving

  • All weather driving

  • Out of town driving & rural roads

  • Night driving

  • Dual carriageways

  • Motorways
